Dafen Man of The Match: (Voted for by both Dafen and Loughor coaches) Daniel Johnson. This was by far and away the best performance we have seen from Daniel this season. Not only did he score three superb goals to record his first hat trick of this campaign, he also set one up for Nathan after making a strong run from inside his own half. His link play was superb and is getting better all the time but more over it was his work ethic and commitment to his team mates that was first class. Well done my son, I knew you had it in you.(CJ)
A very, very hot sunny morning saw every Dafen team member turn out, all together, for the first time ever. Team photos were taken before the match against the visiting Loughor 1 side. Not only was the sun very hot, so was the way Dafen played in the first quarter. After the opening 5 minutes, which were pretty even, Dafen really turned on the style with superb passing and blistering individual runs that had the Loughor players wondering just what had hit them. Goals in the first quarter from Nathan, Lloyd, Morgan and a hat trick from Daniel. A master class in defending from Liam beside Adam and with Tom in top form as well there was just no way through for Loughor who found themselves 6-0 down after the first 15mins. Loughor played extremely well in the second quarter and managed to restrict Dafen to scoring only one goal which came via a Jonathon Richards clinical finish after an excellent run and supply from Joe. With the Loughor team being down to 6 players the decision was made by the Loughor coach to call it a day due to the heat and tiredness and the game ended there. It was a shame but it was the right decision as Dafen basically had 2 teams who would have been only playing 2 quarters each against a side that would have been exhausted going into the third quarter. To sum up Dafen looked extremely strong in all areas but mention has to go to another player who had possibly his best performance ever, Ryan Davies. Like Joe against Burry Port last week, on another day Ryan would certainly have got the Man Of The Match award as not only was he strong in the tackle, his distribution of the ball when he won it was delightful. Always looking to pass the ball to a team mate rather than panicking and just kicking it away Ryan displayed excellent defensive work combined with starting the next attack. Well done M8. |
