Thanks to all the players and management for their efforts this season. The first team did not challenge for honours but consolidated their position in the Premier Division. The Reserves had great success in the Darch Cup this week but fell short in the league today. This was a most disappointing performance against a Llandeilo team who were, at best average. It's a shame a stronger referee wasn't in charge for this important game! He was poor, but so were we! Surely a proper official should not be telling us that he's not adding time on when the ball goes out of play cos he'll be there all night! That said the poor quality of the ref did not cost us the game, we just didn't click.
Thanks to Richard Stephens, Stuart Evans, Keri Evans,Glan Letheren, John Andrews, Mark Rees, Geoff Griffiths, John Thomas & John Frater for all their hard work this season. With both senior managers stepping down let's hope we can fill these important roles quickly and start building for 2008-09. I think we have the infrastructure within the club to progress and I think we have a solid base from which to move forward. As well as the 1st & 2nd team we hope to re-form the 3rd team next season and I think we can use this team to help with the transition from Junior to Senior football.
I hope to see everyone at this year's Club Dinner & would everyone please please help the club by contacting either me(Clem) or Huw Thomas(Treasurer) to sort out any fines/tote/other owing for the season.
Again thanks to everyone for their efforts!

The Club has unfortunately this week lost one of its greatest servants namely Mr Arnold Letheren who passed away on Monday. Arnold was a great advisory for the Club and I had the honour of not just serving under him whilst he was Chairman of the Bluebirds but also being alongside him on both the Dafen Welfare Committee and the Carmarthenshire League Executive Committee. I know I speak on behalf of all who knew him that he will be sadly missed in all the arenas he was known and our deepest sympathy go out to all the family. Arnold did an enormous amount of work in developing the Club and together with his sons David, Glan and Brian have played a significant role in the history of the Club which I'm sure they will continue to do so along with other members of the family for years to come. Whilst offering the Club's condolescences to the family I'm sure Arnold would be wishing the very best of luck to our Reserves this evening as they take on Pontarddulais in final of the Darch Cup at Stebonheath this evening. It would be a fitting tribute for the boys to win the cup on behalf of Arnold and to secure promotion back to Reserve Division One with a win at Llandeilo on Saturday. So lets make Arnold proud an do the double. Lastly I know Arnold would have wanted the Club to congratulate Seaside on what has been an excellent season for them as they won the West Wales Intermediate Cup in dramatic style on Monday night which added to their successes in winning the Premier Division and Reserve Division One titles.

Sad to hear of the passing of Mr Arnold Letheren. I'd like to send my condolences to all of Arnold's family, Arnold was a great servant to football, not only to Dafen but also to the Carmarthenshire League & the West Wales FA, he will be sorely missed. There are'nt many people who have given so much commitment to local football.
